The story behind the image

Heritage

When travelling I also get to indulge one of my other favourite photography genres, Architecture.

We have moved to Maryborough, Queensland.  Founded in 1847 and named after the Mary River, which in turn was named after Lady Mary Lennox, the wife of the then Governor of New South Wales, the town has restored and showcases many of its early buildings.

Extra:

Among the famous people born in Maryborough, was PL Travers, the author of Mary Poppins.

The town celebrates this fact with a statue (and plaque) as well as it being located on Cherry Tree Lane and there being ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ cafe next door to the building where she was born, once a bank.
