Australia is not short of wide open spaces. We came to this one purely for the name, Tin Can Bay, it intrigued us.
Thought to be derived from the local word for Dugong, Tuncanbar, the town was settled by westerners for logging, with the logs floated to the port of Maryborough. Now more known for fishing, dolphin spotting, the nearby ferry to Fraser Island and the Australian Army training ground nearby.
When the tide goes out the wide open expanse of sand is a great walk.
